Removal of Chrome Rocker Panels; How is this done?

We are often asked as to how is the best way to remove and replace a chrome rocker panel piece that has been damaged in some form of manner. We tell them that this can be done without damaging your vehicle paint or surface; but be prepared to spend a little bit of time and also have some patience to accomplish this task. We then give them these tips to try and make this task just a little bit easier:

TIP #1: Using a hair dryer; or preferably a heat gun; heat up a small section of the rocker panel to soften up the adhesive on the back side of the rocker panel; then try prying up and removing the rocker panel a small section at a time. Once you have removed a small section of the rocker panel; then you can then easily use the heat gun or hair dryer to apply the heat directly to the exposed adhesive surface. Then by using time and also patience; you can then remove the entire rocker panel piece by using this removal process.

TIP #2: If there is any adhesive still remaining on the actual paint surface; you can then use your heat gun and or hair dryer; along with a cleaner solvent to easily remove the remaining adhesive.
